Pyrrics
The Pyrrics are a militant religious faction born in the chaos during the time Syrven declared himself. Founded by Brother Pyre, they are defined less by faith than by purification through suffering. To them, pain is proof, fire is truth, and mercy is heresy. They believe the world is irredeemably tainted and can only be made holy through cleansing by holy fire. Their rituals are public and theatrical: trials that are foregone conclusions, executions framed as sacraments, and purges justified as acts of divine necessity. In Pyrric doctrine, anyone who resists, doubts, or simply survives impurity becomes complicit in it.
What makes the Pyrrics truly dangerous is not their fanaticism alone, but their certainty. They do not see themselves as cruel, only obedient instruments of the hand of Syvren. Their movement, which began in Lumière, spread first across Gallance and then out into the broader world and sparked the birth of the Coalition Army, a force intent on seeing them stamped out.
They are-nominally-led by Saint Usef the Pious who walked unharmed through the fire which consumed Brother Pyre. However, the movement is larger than any single voice, even that of Syvren himself, and while both Syvren and Usef attempt to contain them, the Pyrrics continue their holy crusade.
